ES House | Jacobsen Studio

Located in Guarujá, São Paulo, on a steeply sloping plot overlooking the sea and the horizon, the ES House was conceived from a sensitive relationship with the abundant nature surrounding it. The project stems from the clients' emotional connection to the land and the desire to create an informal, inviting house that is deeply integrated into the landscape.

The layout unfolds on diFerent levels, following the pronounced relief and meeting legal and programmatic requirements, as well as the wishes of the young couple. The architecture seeks to blend into the existing forest, minimizing interference and preserving the vegetation as much as possible. To reinforce this intention, new trees were planted, helping to camouflage the house in the landscape.

Access is via street level, where the roof welcomes visitors to a garden with a fire pit and a wooden deck. From there, the house gradually reveals itself. The first flight of stairs leads to a garden with a reflecting pool and pebbles, marking the arrival at the double-height mezzanine of the living room. At this level is the family room, which can remain integrated or isolated through wooden panels, always with the view as the main feature.

On the level below is located the main social area, consisting of a living room, dining room, and gourmet veranda, organized in a continuous space open to the sea horizon. The double-height ceiling and Glulam roof enhance the feeling of spaciousness, while large glass panels ensure transparency and connection with the landscape. An internal garden acts as a transitional element, separating the living and dining areas and reinforcing the relationship between interior and exterior. The room also opens onto the pool and the surrounding forest, creating a protected and welcoming environment.

The lower floor houses the bedrooms, located at the level of the treetops. Along the circulation areas, in strategically designed places, we have distributed works of art, creating a pleasant circuit with close proximity to the vegetation, reinforcing the atmosphere of refuge and integration with nature. Further down, at deck level, is the area dedicated to contemplation and meditation, considered by the clients to be the most special environment in the house. Wooden ceilings and floors, along with the strategic use of stone along the staircase, create a welcoming and quiet atmosphere.

The structural solution was one of the project's major challenges. The house rests on a dendriform structure, which supports the projection of the main volume at only two points, reducing contact with the ground, interfering as little as possible with the vegetation, and preserving the view of the sea and the horizon. The residence thus appears suspended in the landscape.

The materials reinforce the unity of the project throughout all levels. Natural materials such as hand-cut stone, freijó wood, and carefully sourced stone floors are repeated, creating visual and tactile continuity. The walls, for the most part, receive warmer and earthier textures and tones, ensuring cohesion and identity to the whole. In the furniture, highlights include pieces by Jean Gillon, Etel Carmona, and Baba Vacaro. In the works of art, carefully chosen in conjunction with the clients, names such as Burle Marx, José Patrício, Marcos Amato, and Raul Mourão are featured.

The result of a creative process marked by the freedom granted by the clients and by complex engineering, the ES House presents itself as a light house, integrated with nature and designed for welcoming, socializing and contemplating, always maintaining the view and the landscape as central elements of the project.

Residência ES

Localizada no Guarujá, em São Paulo, em um terreno de forte declive com vista para o mar e o horizonte, a Residência ES foi concebida a partir de uma relação sensível com a natureza abundante ao redor. O projeto nasce da conexão afetiva dos clientes ao terreno e do desejo de criar uma casa informal, convidativa e profundamente integrada à paisagem.

A implantação se desenvolve de forma escalonada, em níveis, acompanhando o relevo acentuado e atendendo às condicionantes legais, programáticas e ao desejo do jovem casal. A arquitetura busca se encaixar na mata existente, minimizando interferências e preservando ao máximo a vegetação. Para reforçar essa intenção, novas árvores foram plantadas, ajudando a camuflar a casa na paisagem.

O acesso acontece pelo nível da rua, onde a cobertura recebe o visitante em um jardim com fire pit e deck em madeira ecológica. A partir daí, a casa se revela gradualmente. O primeiro lance de escadas conduz a um jardim com espelho d’água e pedriscos, que marca a chegada ao mezanino do pé-direito duplo da sala. Nesse nível está a sala íntima, que pode permanecer integrada ou isolada através de painéis de madeira, sempre com a vista como protagonista.

No nível abaixo, encontra-se a área social principal, composta por sala de estar, jantar e área gourmet, organizadas em um espaço contínuo e aberto para o horizonte do mar. O pé-direito duplo e a cobertura em MLC intensificam a sensação de amplitude, enquanto grandes painéis de vidro garantem transparência e conexão com a paisagem. Um jardim interno atua como elemento de transição, separando estar e jantar e reforçando a relação entre interior e exterior. A sala se abre também para a piscina e para a mata, criando um ambiente protegido e acolhedor.

O pavimento inferior abriga os quartos, implantados no nível das copas das árvores. Ao longo da circulação, em lugares estrategicamente pensados, distribuímos obras de arte, criando um circuito agradável e com muita proximidade da vegetação, reforçando a atmosfera de refugio e integração com a natureza. Ainda mais abaixo, no nível do deck, está a área dedicada à contemplação e à meditação, considerada pelos clientes como o ambiente mais especial da casa. Forros e pisos de madeira, além do uso pontual de pedra ao longo da escada, criam uma ambiência acolhedora e silenciosa.

A solução estrutural foi um dos grandes desafios do projeto. A casa se apoia em uma estrutura tipo “pé de galinha”, que sustenta a projeção do volume principal em apenas dois pontos, reduzindo o contato com o solo, interferindo o mínimo possível na mata e preservando a vista para o mar e o horizonte. A residência parece, assim, suspensa na paisagem.

As materialidades reforçam a unidade do projeto ao longo de todos os níveis. Materiais naturais como pedra de mão, madeira freijó e pisos de pedra cuidadosamente garimpados se repetem, criando continuidade visual e tátil. As paredes, em sua maioria, recebem texturas e tons mais quentes e terrosos, garantindo coesão e identidade ao conjunto. No mobiliário, destaque para peças de Jean Gillon, Etel Carmona e Baba Vacaro. Nas obras de arte cuidadosamente escolhidas em conjunto com os clientes, nomes como Burle Marx, José Patrício, Marcos Amato e Raul Mourão.

Resultado de um processo criativo marcado pela liberdade concedida pelos clientes e por uma engenharia complexa, a Residência ES se apresenta como uma casa leve, integrada à natureza e pensada para receber, conviver e contemplar, mantendo sempre a vista e a paisagem como elementos centrais do projeto.
