Carefully implemented on a sloping plot of land, the AMS House was built on the highest point of the lot, where the native forest serves as a backdrop and reference for the design of the house. Three blocks make up the architectural ensemble – with the social volume in the central position – connected by covered walkways. The strategy of volumetric fragmentation not only responds to the uneven terrain but also reinforces the intention of occupying the land.

A hierarchy was established between the blocks by the roof of the central volume – higher and with generous eaves – which houses the social area of the residence. This volume contains the living room, dining room and an open kitchen, which are integrated and open to the outside through large glass panels. Laminated wood beams run the entire length of the roof, marking its structure and leading the eye to the surroundings. The travertine floors and copper light fixtures reinforce the cohesion of the material palette.

The clients' desire for a sustainable home guided the choice of two materials: laminated wood and rammed earth. The wood is used in pillars and ceilings, always in a light color, with natural finishes. Rammed earth was used in large walls facing the street, providing privacy and thermal stability. The tone of the earth was carefully defined after several tests, to ensure chromatic harmony with the wood. The rammed earth technique (or taipa de pilão) is ancestral and dates back to ancient construction practices, having been traditionally used in several cultures, including colonial times in Brazil. It is a process in which moist earth is compacted in wooden forms, creating monolithic walls with high thermal inertia and expressive tectonic presence. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, its use rescues vernacular knowledge and reinforces the project's commitment to more sustainable and conscious practices. On the sides where the rammed earth predominates, skylights were strategically positioned to bathe the walls in natural light throughout the day, revealing distinct nuances and textures. The bedrooms, located at the extremities of the house, have natural wood enclosures and open onto the landscape, preserving privacy and ensuring thermal comfort.

The pool, which runs through the garden in an organic shape, was designed to resemble a natural lake, with soft contours and an irregular stone border. Its lower position in relation to the house establishes a delicate separation between the social area and the leisure area, without breaking the continuity of the view. The spa, the children's area and the service areas are located in the lower floor, taking advantage of the uneven terrain without compromising the general interpretation of a one-story residence.

In terms of decoration, the green sofa in the family room was the initial piece that guided the rest of the choices. Based on this tone, the striped Ralph Lauren fabric used on the chairs at the game table was chosen. This palette was then developed throughout the rest of the house, from the rugs and fabrics in the living room to the stools in the open kitchen. Signed Brazilian furniture, by designers such as Sergio Rodrigues, Jacqueline Terpins and Claudia Moreira Salles, make up the aesthetics of the residence, where no piece seeks to overshadow the other, forming a delicate and balanced chromatic ecosystem.

Implantada cuidadosamente sobre um terreno em declive, a Residência AMS se desenvolve a partir da cota mais alta do lote, onde a mata nativa se torna pano de fundo e referência para o desenho da casa. Três blocos compõem o conjunto arquitetônico – com o volume social em posição central –, conectados por passarelas cobertas que atravessam jardins. A estratégia de fragmentação volumétrica não apenas responde ao relevo acidentado, mas também reforça a intenção na ocupação no terreno.

Desde a chegada, percebe-se uma hierarquia entre os blocos, estabelecida pelo telhado do volume central – mais alto e com beirais generosos, que abriga a área social da residência. Nesse volume estão localizadas a sala de estar, jantar e uma cozinha aberta, que se integram e se abrem para o exterior através de grandes painéis de vidro. Vigas de madeira laminada clara acompanham toda a extensão do teto, marcando a sua estrutura e conduzindo o olhar para o verde. O piso em travertino e a luminárias em cobre reforçam a coesão da paleta de materiais.

O desejo dos clientes por uma casa sustentável guiou a escolha por dois materiais: madeira laminada e taipa de pilão. A madeira aparece em pilares e forros, sempre clara, com acabamentos naturais. Já a taipa foi empregada em grandes paredes de fechamento voltadas para a rua e áreas íntimas, conferindo privacidade e estabilidade térmica. O tom da terra utilizada foi cuidadosamente definido após diversos testes, para garantir harmonia cromática com a madeira. A técnica da taipa de pilão é ancestral e remonta a práticas construtivas milenares, sendo tradicionalmente utilizada em diversas culturas, inclusive no Brasil colonial. Trata-se de um processo em que terra úmida é compactada em fôrmas de madeira, criando paredes monolíticas de alta inércia térmica e expressiva presença tectônica. Além do apelo estético, sua utilização resgata saberes vernaculares e reforça o compromisso do projeto com práticas mais sustentáveis e conscientes.

Nas faces onde a taipa predomina, claraboias foram posicionadas de maneira estratégica para banhar as paredes com luz natural ao longo do dia, revelando nuances e texturas distintas. Os quartos, dispostos nas extremidades da casa, possuem fechamento em madeira natural e se abrem para a paisagem, preservando a privacidade e garantindo conforto térmico. A piscina, que percorre o jardim em uma forma orgânica, foi pensada para remeter a um lago natural, com contornos suaves e borda em pedra irregular. Sua posição rebaixada em relação ao piso da casa estabelece uma separação delicada entre o convívio social e a área de lazer, sem impedir a continuidade do olhar.

No subsolo, foram acomodados o spa, a ala infantil e as áreas de serviço, aproveitando o desnível do terreno sem comprometer a leitura geral de uma residência essencialmente térrea. Na decoração, o sofá verde da sala íntima foi a peça inicial que direcionou o restante das escolhas. A partir desse tom, foi escolhido o tecido Ralph Lauren listrado usado nas cadeiras da mesa de jogos. Essa paleta, então, se desenvolveu pelo restante da casa, passando pelos tapetes e tecidos da sala de estar até as banquetas da cozinha. Mobiliário brasileiro assinado, com nomes como Sergio Rodrigues, Jacqueline Terpins e Claudia Moreira Salles, compõem a estética da residência, onde nenhuma peça busca se sobrepor à outra, formando um delicado e equilibrado ecossistema cromático.
