Sauna Bratislava / Slovakia

Pixxla Sauna is a mobile 25-person sauna designed by Zly Architekt in collaboration with Pixxla Sauna in Bratislava, Slovakia. Built within the structural shell of a new shipping container, the project transforms an inherently enclosed industrial object into an open, atmospheric space for collective sauna rituals.

While the container's original exterior character is largely preserved, one of its longitudinal walls has been opened and replaced with a glazed facade. The intervention establishes a direct visual connection between the sauna and its surroundings, allowing each new location to become part of the interior experience.

Inside, black-stained timber unifies the walls, ceiling, floor and seating into a dark, visually restrained environment. The intention was to give the object a sense of attraction, mystery and atmosphere — creating a space that feels intimate and immersive without becoming visually overwhelming. Rather than competing with the view, the dark interior recedes into the background, drawing attention towards daylight, vegetation and the landscape beyond the glass. The contrast between the almost black interior and the openness of the glazed façade becomes central to the experience: a protected, intimate space that remains continuously connected to its surroundings.

Completely prefabricated in a workshop, the sauna can be transported and installed in different locations, combining the mobility and efficiency of container architecture with an intimate space for heat, relaxation and communal ritual.
