RE:SEA transforms the Seajets Ticket Agency at Rafina Port into a contemporary gateway to the Aegean. Designed for Seajets, one of Greece’s leading ferry operators connecting Athens with the Aegean islands, the project draws inspiration from the movement of the sea. At the heart of the ticket agency, discarded fishing nets and marine plastics collected from the Aegean Sea are reborn through large-scale 3D printing as a sculptural reception landscape. Blending computational design, circular material innovation and public architecture, RE:SEA demonstrates how waste can be reimagined as identity, experience and place.

Located at Rafina Port, one of Greece’s main gateways to the Aegean islands, RE:SEA redefines the experience of a transport terminal through architecture rooted in material regeneration. Instead of representing the sea through imagery, the project establishes a direct physical relationship with it by transforming discarded fishing nets and marine plastics recovered from the Aegean into its primary architectural element.
Designed through computational modelling and fabricated using large-scale additive manufacturing, the reception landscape flows through the space, organizing visitors movement while expressing the fluid dynamics of the surrounding coastline. The project explores how digital fabrication and circular design can move beyond sustainability as a technical objective to become an architectural language. RE:SEA proposes a new model for public infrastructure, where local waste streams are transformed into meaningful civic spaces, connecting environmental responsibility with spatial experience and technological innovation.

The ticket agency is 50sqm and is divided into the main agency area and a storage room for luggages. At the primary space, the surrounding back-side walls are covered with an opaque curved class with diffused back-light. The reflections that occure, provide a sense of layering and depth to the experience of the visitor. The floor is covered in cement sceed, a material commonly used in traditional architecture at the Cyclades islands.
