AUI, the new hotel in Maranza designed by architect Gottfried Gruber and LAINS Architects, is based on a clear idea: architecture takes on the role of the host. Spaces, materials and details provide orientation, connect different functions and enable an intuitive stay. They guide guests through the building and create a balance between private retreat and social interaction, rethinking the concept of hospitality.

The new AUI is based on the idea that architecture itself becomes the host: it creates an intuitive
spatial system that guides guests without imposing predefined routines. This gives guests more
freedom to decide how they spend their stay. At the same time, routine processes such as check-in
are automated, leaving the hosts more space for personal and relaxed forms of hospitality. This visiontransforms the hotel into a temporary community, where privacy and social interaction come together in the spirit of South Tyrolean tradition.
