The person who lives in this apartment is called Lea. She is a young and dynamic woman who embraces life with the spirit of someone in tune with the rhythms of nature. The project was designed around her, with the aim of giving the home an identity that aligns with her personality. Our architectural intent was to respect the original structure of the building, enhancing its historical features while introducing a fresh and colorful atmosphere. At the entrance, the space is marked by Light Things, a neon work by Joseph Kosuth, installed over Didgeridoo Wall wallpaper by Dedar in a seaweed green shade. On the floor, terracotta tiles were laid in a classic Italian her- ringbone pattern with a bindello border, echoing the traditional character of the building. In the living room, the main elements are a rug by emerging brand Tapistelar, woven with agave and metal thre- ads, and an icon of Italian design, the Maralunga sofa by Vico Magistretti for Cassina. Opposite, a custom-de- signed open-pore travertine sideboard anchors the space. The wall lights placed next to the blue canvas are the Circle model, designed by us for the brand Matlight. These are backlit alabaster discs mounted on a central burnished brass pin. The kitchen was custom-designed with a satin-finished steel exterior and walnut interiors. The cabinet doors are covered with wallpaper by Misha and protected by a glass panel framed in steel. The staircase, also designed by us, is made of burnished brass and connects the living area to the upper floor, where the bedrooms are located. At its center, the Akari lamp by Isamu Noguchi brings light to the full-height space with its soft and diffused presence. In the attic-converted night area, we chose to expose the original beams and use tactile surfaces such as straw for the wardrobes and velvet for the beds, creating a sense of intimacy that is both welcoming and grounded. Casa Lea is a project that reflects the personality of someone sophisticated yet young and free.
