ONroute Service Centres

The goal of the Ontario public-private partnership developing new service centres for Highways 400 and 401 is to create friendly, positive environments where drivers can stop to rest, refuel and recharge. Quadrangle has responded with structures (in four sizes) designed to establish a clearly identifiable presence across the province while reflecting the unique heritage and setting of individual locations. Each centre has a sloping metal roof above a glass atrium that allows natural light to fill the interior spaces by day and creates a beacon for travelers at night. Other unifying features are the walls of indigenous stone that anchor the buildings and the exterior wood trellises and canopies. Designed to anticipate a 50 year lifespan, the ONroute centres integrate the sustainable elements required for LEED® Silver certification and are compliant with stringent accessibility guidelines to ensure visitors of all abilities feel welcome.
