The Créateurs Design Awards announced that SANAA’s Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa have been selected as the recipients of the prestigious 2025 Le Prix Charlotte Perriand.

This honor recognizes their unparalleled contributions to modern architecture and design, further solidifying their legacy as visionary leaders in the field.

SANAA was founded in 1995 by Kazuyo Sejima, who had previously worked in Toyo Ito's studio, and Ryue Nishizawa, who is ten years younger than Sejima.

SANAA's many notable buildings include the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa (2004); De Kunstlinie Theatre and Cultural Centre, Almare (Netherlands, 2006); the New Museum Contemporary Art (USA, 2007); Rolex Learning Center (Switzerland, 2009); The Louvre-Lens (France, 2012); the Nuovo Campus Bocconi (Milan, 2020); La Samaritaine (Paris, 2021); and the Sydney Modern Project (Sidney, 2022).

Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa have been at the forefront of architectural innovation, celebrated for their minimalist yet profound designs that harmoniously blend form, function, and environment. Their work has consistently pushed the boundaries of contemporary architecture, earning them global recognition and accolades, including the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2010.

Upon receiving the news, Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa expressed their deep gratitude: "It is a great honor to receive an award that bears such a great name. Charlotte Perriand is one of the masters of modern architecture, and we admire her delicate interior and furniture designs."
