MATA Architects are an RIBA chartered architecture practice, formed in 2015 by Dan Marks. Based in Westminster, central London, the studio’s work to date has been focused in and around the city spanning the full spectrum of residential design, from bespoke furniture and interiors to new build homes. A number of projects have also been undertaken in the food & beverage sector and a commercial workspace scheme in Spitalfields, London. Sensitive to the wider context and history of sites, MATA balance old and new to create imaginative architecture that works with the world around. An interest in sustainable regeneration underpins the work; reinventing and renewing while striving to minimise reliance on new materials and their associated embodied carbon. Through thoughtful design, the practice seeks to maximise what’s already there, making considered and strategic interventions. Every decision and design move is made to simplify, pare back and declutter to reveal something essential about a given site and ultimately improve and enrich the lives of future occupants and users.
